Floral Facial Mist

I believe LIFE IS MAGICAL. If you believe that too, you’ve found yourself in the right place.

Botanicals have always been incorporated in my skin and health care & today I’m so excited to share with you a product I have used for years. Throughout the years, I have adjusted this Floral Facial Mist depending on what was locally available & my emotional/mental/physical/spiritual needs.

Grab yourself a cup of coffee or tea and settle in!

Plant-derived Botanical ingredients were among the very first in cosmetics. Historically, plants were the only way to produce products for cleaning, moisturizing, covering up blemishes and even treating minor skin conditions. How did we get away from using nature to help heal, correct and maintain health for our skin and bodies? I’m not here to tell you how harmful most commercial products are for your health. We all know they are.

Lets get to the recipe and then I will discuss the benefits of each ingredient!

After adding your Essential Oils, add a small amount into a glass or plastic bottle & store in your refrigerator. This recipe makes a large batch to share with friends! Yay! Botanical Infusions do NOT usually last longer then a week even with them being stored in the refrigerator but I have found that if you freeze what you are not going to use for that week, you will have a fresh Floral Facial Mist for months! Just unfreeze a little each week and refill your bottle!

So there you have it! It is SO easy and rewarding to make your own skin care products! Now lets discuss the Botanicals & Essential Oils used for this batch!

1 – Yucca Flowers 2- Wild Bergamot 3-Yarrow Flowers 4 – Black Eyes Susan’s 5-Red Roses 6- Morning Glory Flowers

1 – Yucca Flowers:

Yucca Flowers improve your skin health. This flower is able to protect skin against damage due to sun rays. This ability is credited to the photo-protective properties in yucca flower.

2 – Wild Bergamot:

Wild Bergamot is all about one’s sense of self: self-love, self-worth, self-acceptance, self-judgment & self-hatred. This herb helps us do the work necessary to step out of our fears of not being good enough, or our habits of holding back for fear of rejection of Who We Are, and helps us to learn to love and accept ourselves. It teaches us to find validation within, accept our own authenticity, and not spend so much time worrying about what others will think about it. Wild Bergamot has skin purifying benefits, opens the pores, has soothing, antiseptic, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Wild Bergamot can be used to get rid of scars and marks on the skin, tone the skin and soothe skin irritations. In folk medicine, it was used to facilitate wound healing and was added to homemade skin disinfectants

3 – Yarrow:

Using Yarrow in organic skin helps promotes skin circulation and opens pores. Yarrow also has anti-inflammatory qualities.

For centuries, yarrow has been used for healing wounds. Its anti-inflammatory and anti-spasmodic property is azulene, the same volatile oil found in chamomile.

Probably because of its close association with bleeding, the early 17th-centruy herbalist Nicholas Culpeper recommended yarrow for women’s complaints, including menstrual cramps.

The chemical constituents of yarrow are flavonoids and salicylic acid. Yarrow also contains achilleine, which is said to be identical to acontitic acid.

Yarrow is very astringent. It works as a tonic and a stimulant. It’s also mildly aromatic.

4 – Black Eyed Susans:

Black Eyed Susans allows the old habit and well-worn emotions to meet the light of transformation and change. This flower assists in the release of old habits and negative behaviors. Other ways in which Black-eyed Susan assists us are by giving us the ability to move forward with grace and decisiveness; giving you that extra drive to get things down and move ahead. Forget about procrastination, lethargy & being stuck in abusive patterns. Black Eyed Susan’s are powerful catalyst for confronting parts of the personality or traumatic episodes from the past that have been kept locked away. They assist in calming and balancing allowing one to center and tune into their intuitive self.

5 – Red Roses:

We know Roses have been a symbol of love and beauty but did you know Roses also have a soothing effect for releasing stress and depression?! Roses also assist with overcoming irritation on sensitive skin, balance the oil content of the skin, make your skin soft and fresh, decrease pore size & treat acne.

6 – Morning Glory:

One of the usages of Morning Glory flowers is to combat stress. It has such a calming effect! The sweet aroma also assists in swelling, improves brain power, effectively treats dermatitis and is known to have excellent antibacterial properties.
